Anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? Good luck if you are!

NaNo-2015

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is about writing 50,000 words in a month. It’s difficult, but surprisingly achievable. The theory gies: many stories die from over-editing, where you get trapped polishing what you’ve written instead of writing more. This forces you to at least get the main chunk of a full draft finished.

I’ve participated twice so far, and won both times–but I haven’t actually finished either story. I keep getting distracted by new ideas, and by this point my unfinished WIPs have piled up to five or so.

After this November, I’m setting a new goal–finish! First, this November’s novel, and then work my way back from newest to oldest, filling in the gaps that happen when you’re writing that quickly, and write the endings for last year and the year before. Then I need to get back to…
